ARCHITECTURE

Voted one of VRBO's 2023 Vacation Homes of the Year, Manzanita House is a contemporary Pacific Ocean gem. Architect and Owner Eva Sobesky didn’t want it to be the sort of property that stands out, but did want to put her own mark and create a design that does, in a way, feel a bit out of the norm. She tried to be contextual with the materials, using locally grown western cedar wood in which the property is clad. Each bedroom is oriented to frame the trees and beach so the view is a painting - everywhere you look is a tableau of nature.

PLACE

The home is surrounded by gorgeous forest landscapes with many opportunities for wildlife sightings. Only a short walk separates you from a beautiful beach that is bonfire friendly and boasts coastal views. The charming town of Manzanita and its quaint downtown are minutes away. Stroll down Laneda Avenue and visit any of the restaurants serving delicious cuisine from gourmet breakfast & lunch specialties to a lively pub, high-end dining, and Mexican fare. Stop in at the Visitor’s Center to learn about all the activities taking place in and around town during your stay or visit any of the several artisan and boutique shops. The towns of Nehalem and Wheeler are also nearby, offering additional dining options, shops and river and boating access.

Explore Oswald West State Park or Nehalem Bay State Park which offer year-round family activities including but not limited to biking, hiking and fishing or visit Nehalem Bay Winery, a historic winery with picnic tables and outdoor music.
