01. ROCK ‘N’ HOUSE
Rock ‘n’ House is a triumph of architecture designed around the environment it is sited in. Its focal point is the awesome boulder it is built around on a bluestone ridge. Inspired by the shape of Polaris, the course of the sun, this one-of-a-kind property is well placed to admire nature and contemplate our place in the cosmos.
02. LD CABIN
Perched on the hills of the Laurentians, LD Cabin represents a thoughtfully designed mountainside vacation home. Tucked into lush, wooded surroundings with sensational views, the Scandinavian-inspired cabin was designed with the intention of merging the design concept of a boutique hotel with the remote experience of a Canadian cabin getaway.
03. THE JACOBSON HOUSE
Designed by Judith Chafee, one of America’s greatest architects, The Jacobson House secluded in 4 acres of Sonoran desert, is a modern retreat in the wildnerness of the scrub. The architectural marvel blurs the lines between the inside and outside, allowing guest to reconnect with the nature’s rhythms.
04. THE CRYSTAL PILLOW
This Art Deco masterpiece has a grand foyer and lobby reminding one of a boutique hotel, while the Rolex green great room with 18” ceilings is fit for a president. Its art deco style is no mistake as this unique property includes its own art gallery. The Crystal pillow is the height of San Diegan resort-living.
05. ROSA MUERTA
Rosa Muerta is an architectural experiment of contradictions. It is both exposed to the infinite entropy of the Joshua Tree desert and incredibly sheltering. As a modern pavilion, it’s essentially a camping experience, but one of high luxury. The structure has no heating or air conditioning, but it remains temperate due to its architecture of walls without rooves.
06. TAGHKANIC GLASS HOUSE
This glass and steel pavilion from world-renowned architect Thomas Phiferaghkanic has to be seen to be believed. Its transparent structure provides a full 360-degree view, and sunshade panels are in place to block sunrays throughout the year. Nestled in a clearing in a pine forest in rural Upstate New York, the Taghkanic Glass House is oriented to take advantage of the natural topography.
07. WOLFHOUSE
Designed by celebrated architect Philip Johnson, Wolfhouse is set atop a hillside north of the Newburgh-Beacon bridge displaying panoramic views of the Hudson River. The home is reminiscent of Johnson’s most well-known work, The Glass House.
